When the bell rang the teacher tolled is boys to take our shirts off and get ready for our performance. Here is a link to it how do you think we did.

Rotorua trip
On Tuesday last week I left on a Mountain biking trip in Rotorua with my family. I get really car sick, lucky for me we had pills to solve that. On the way there it felt like it took for ever especially with my dog slobbering in the van.
When we got there we got some food and went straight for a ride at some jumps. After that little sesh we got comfortable in our cabin. It was the next day and we woke up early to get a shuttle up to the redwoods. I did lots of laps and even a grade 5 track which is the hardest there was up the hill. We carried on doing that for the next few days. Until I remembered there was a airbag in the area so we went there at first there was a 14 year old doing back flips. I tried to do some 360s but I failed I learnt a new trick it was a tuck no hander.
On the way back I started a water fight with my brother but I ended up getting soaked. We arrived at Gizzy in the dark and had to bring everything inside which was a bit of a pain, but in the end it was so much fun.

Hamanatua Stream Walk
On Wednesday (MLH) went for a long mudy walk up Hamanatua. First we had to walk on the road for a long time. Then we went over the fence and started to walk. Straight away we had our first challenge we had to go over a stream.
I just went through because I had gum boots but some people had shoes. Tre slipped in ,Someone dropped their bag in the water and lots of people had soaking shoes. There was lots of cow doo doo and my legs were going to give up on me. There were so many Mud pachis on the way and they were satisfying to stand on. As we got closer the Hamanatua got smaller. At halfway we ate brain brake. Then we walked for a long time until we saw a bunch of cows with there calfs. We had to stay quiet because one of the the calf were sleeping. But obviously everyone stayed super loud. After a long walk we finally got to were the Hamanatua stream starts I was so relieved that I could finally sit down and eat my lunch. Then we walked back and did everything in reverse. Until we got back to where we started. We had to cross the stream again I just went though because I had gum boots but Neko fell in and his waist down was soaking.
When we got back the teacher said that we walked 8.5 Km and that's a lot of damage. I couldn't wait to go back to class and sit down. The end

Herald the Giraffe
On Wednesday we (MLH 1)went to the Herald truck. First we learnt a bunch of stuff I can't remember. Then Matua Beau started talking about a world where everything was the same he said it would be bad. Then a screen loaded up on an big white wall. Matua Beau said that we where going to go to a world where everything was the same. It felt like I was in a rocket and then out of nowhere we took off Through stars and galaxies. Until we where up on top of the planet we sent a camera down to see how it was. The first image that loaded in was a picture of of people with bowl cuts eating some weird black food and there ears were massive. Then something happened and we had to go back to earth.
I think it was fun meeting Matua beau again. Overall I think that going to the truck was fun.

Cross Country 2021
"Ready, Set, GO!" said Koka Pip. I ran as fast as I could, but obviously Rory still out ran me. As I ran around the first turn, I already felt a pinching stitch in my chest. My legs told me to give up, but my big brain didn't. I asked Neko if he wanted to tie 4th he replied "yes".
I ran in and out of the dip. I was only quarter of the way there, now my stitch had gotten even worse. Rori and Jaxon were in an even lead, Harry was coming 3nd and Neko and I were both coming 4th. Me and Neko went in and out of the dich. This time I took the inside line. I ran as hard as I could hoping I would beat Harry.
But he was way in front, so instead I gave myself a break and waited for Neko. As he caught up, we ran the last stretch together and crossed the finish line like olympic champions !! I walked over to grab my drink bottle, I felt like I was almost about to past out. Koka Nollian instructed place 1,2,3,4 and 5 over to take a celebratory picture. Rori came 1st, Jaxon came a very very vey close 2nd, Harry came 3rd and Neko and I draw 4th place.

Cross Country Training
On Friday, week 2, term 3, we went to the cross country course for the first time this year. I was excited because this is something I'm good at. The real cross country is in week 6. The teacher told us where to go but I did not listen properly because I remembered last year's course.
The teacher said ''ready set go'' I took off like a firework. I was panting, sweat was everywhere. I looked to my left, the surf was pumping. I passed Koka Rozie, she said "you're a quarter of the way there". Max and I ran down the ditch, I tripped up and landed on my back but I kept running. I passed Koka Pip, she told me to keep running. I had 1 lap left. I went down the ditch again, this time I didn't fall over. I could see the finish line. I crossed it, then I collapsed on the ground.
As I was walking back, I thought what I could do better next time. But there wasn't too much considering that it is a 2 km run and our first practice of the year. It was fun to run the course again, I can't wait to go next Friday.

Penguin Project
Me and Max have been working really hard on our penguin, we painted him and did a lot of work on him. I think our next steps are to go around the edge with a Sharpie and to clean the lines up a bit. The teacher said that we should spray it with stuff that makes it waterproof, when it's done. We have two more days to finish it and I think we are going to finish it in time. Here is a photo of him. If you have no idea what I am talking about check out my blog from last week.

Reading test
On Wednesday Koka Ngaire came into class meanwhile, we were all on the mat, she told me to find a space in the class and read this little story. I read it a couple of times.
Koka Ngaire came in to get me I followed her to the staff room. She got me to read the text out loud. After I read it out loud she asked me some questions. Once I was done I returned back to class it was almost morning tea.
The text was easy to read but the questions were a bit hard. I think that I did the test on Wednesday because I was sick on Tuesday.

Beach Clean up
On wednesday, we did a beach clean up. The plan was to start at school and walk all the way down to pines on the beach. On the way back we would walk on the foot parth.
The teacher told us to get into a group of three Me,Max and Rori got together. We had to get a bucket so Rori went to get one. When we were walking to the beach I saw a guy getting barreled. Everybody was furiously looking for plastic because whoever gets the most plastic wins a prise. By the time we got to the hamanatua our bucket was almost full. I saw Max at the river were the water were coming out so I went over. There was a mini river wave I said "we should get a stick and finger surf the wave" I found a piece of bark that was perfect for the job. It was fun until Raphi did something wrong and we had to stop. On the way back we found a lot of styrofoam. overall we found 72 pieces and apparently someone else 300.

Adding Decimals
On Tuesday week 4, me and my maths group had to do a screencastify video to show that we can solve the equation. I was pretty nervous because I had just learnt the strategy to solving it. After brain break Koka Ngaire gave everyone in our maths group a piece of paper with a problem to solve my one said 754.023 + 576.978. Me and Harry went up to the room 6 and 7 break out room. First I did the question in my book and answered it correct so I get it right on the screencast video. Click below to see my video!

Back to School
So four weeks ago we started school and now i'm a year six. We have a new class which is way better and we got new carpet. I was actually pretty excited to start school because I broke my collarbone mountain biking so I didn't have much to do. But it was different with the old year six students gone.
On week two we walked to Hamanatua stream and ate some food there. We got some time to play at the beach too. On the same week we walked up Maungaroa (a really big hill) and that was tiring we ate some food at the top with the nice view. The reason we went to these places is because we wanted to walk our pepeha and we went to our marae.

Maths Screencastify
Last term, we had to find the fraction of a whole number. At the start, I had no idea what was going on. But the more we looked into it, the more I got the strategy! By the end of the term I got everything right apart from my basic facts. In term 2, we had to do a screencastify to prove that we can solve the problem When I did my screencastify, everything was perfect, apart from getting numerator and and denominator mixed up. Here is my screencastify.

Blue Penguin walk survay
This week we have been learning about the smallest penguin in the world. The little blue penguin lives in NZ. So we decide to make a survey to drop off at Douglas st and Moana road because they are close to the beach.
After lunch on wednesday we got ready and the the teacher handed us too surveys each. When we got to Hamanatua stream we split in to 3 different group I was second in line and my group went down Moana road the other to groups went down Douglas st. Max was in front of me and he put his too surveys in then it was my turn luckey for me because there were two letter boxes right next to each other. And I put my two in. When I got to the back of the line koka Ngaire handed me and max too more surveys. When we got to the front of the line again we put our surveys in the mail box. By the time everyone had put 4 surveys we were at house like 54 so we went pretty far. Then we had to walk all the way back.
Overall it was really tiring and it was fun making the trucks honk. When we got back to school I was desired and we got to go home straight away.

Week 7 slides
About two weeks ago, the seniors of Wainui Beach School went on their year six camp to Camp Kaitawa. It was spectacular. We did tonnes of long challenging walks and saw an epic waterfall. We did a lot of kayaking, and I love kayaking, and do so more now. But, most importantly, let me tell you about the food. It was really tasty there, there was lasagna, burgers and mashed potato. Have you ever been to Camp Kaitawa?

Cooks cove walk
On Thursday I was getting ready for Cooks cove walk. I have done it before and it is fun but I'm a bit worried this time because I want to be in a walking group with at least one of my friends. We got put into our car groups and I was pretty happy because I got Neko, Kobi, Nathan and Oska. All the year six's were doing this walk to practice for year six camp.
When we got there, the teacher told us our walking groups. I was in the first group, with none of my friends! My group was Raphi, Ella and Alice. Then we started walking up 'The Beast'. As I said earlier, I have done the walk before ,so i remembered most of it. Now we had reached the Massive Beacon of Light statue, it was pretty humongous! Me and all my friends were split up, so I wasn't the only lonely one.
When we got to the look out we could see so far into the wild. We had just arrived to the top of hill and where on our way down the other side when we saw an epic morpork (A pretty cool bird). We went to the beach, here we ate our brain break on the soggy grass. Then, we went to this magical hole through a hill leading to a rocky beach. At last we went up and down the hill again.
I was so tired. On the way back I almost fell asleep in the car. That night I lay in bed in pain but I survived it was hard to fall asleep though.
THE END
